This guide helps you resolve the Google Play not installed or not enabled error on Android or ChromeOS.

Restart your device

Restart your device first. If the Google Play Store app has stopped or crashed, a restart restores it and its services before you try anything else.

Re-enable the Google Play Store app

If Google Play Store has been disabled in your device settings, re-enable it:

Fix Google Play Store app issues

If Google Play Store is enabled but won't open, follow Google's guide to fixing Google Play Store problems.

For a broader starting point covering both platforms, see Google's guide to finding and fixing Google Play issues.

Check that your device supports Google Play

If the above steps don't resolve the error, your device may not support Google Play. See Google's list of supported Android and ChromeOS devices to confirm your device is supported.

For unsupported Android devices such as Amazon Fire Tablets, you may be able to install Google Play manually — see Geeks for Geeks: Install Google Play Store on unsupported Android.
