Approach Shots - Range
The Approach Shots game mode provides you with a practice environment to test your accuracy across multiple greens, distances, and scenarios - allowing you to aim for various targets, between 28 and 252 meters (30-275 yards) whilst avoiding bunkers, water, and trees.
In Approach Shots, there are 13 preset targets, marked with flags. The selected target, positioned straight-ahead, can be changed by swiping to pan the view left-and-right or clicking on the labels above each target.
All previous shots' final positions will be displayed on the top-down view of the whole Approach Shots practice area - and the most recent 5 shots will be shown as a persistent tracer, plotting the shot's trajectory.
Our Pin Shuffle toggle also allows you to randomise the target selection to test yourself at random yardages after you've selected how many shots you want per target and the distance range that you want your targets to be within.
Counters & Data Points
The number of shots you've hit is displayed in the top-center of the screen, alongside the number of shots that landed on a green - and the percentage of shots based on the total hit.
Approach Shots provides a few different metrics with each shot, displayed at the bottom of the screen. This includes Club Speed, Ball Speed, Carry Distance, Total Distance, Launch Angle, Backspin, Side Spin, Club Path, and Horizontal Launch Angle.
Pin Shuffle
Clicking on the "flag" button in the top left of the screen will allow you to toggle the Pin Shuffle feature between On and Off. Pin shuffling enable random selection of targets at the various distances.
When using Pin Shuffling you can select the number of shots you want to take aiming at each target before the random target selection changes. The minimum and maximum distances can also be tweaked to filter the selection of random targets.
Ground Firmness
Clicking on the "grass" icon in the top right of the screen will allow you to change the simulated ground firmness for your shots in Approach Shots. Ground firmness can affect the roll distance of your shots and can be good practice to adjust this to match the current climate or weather of your local environment.
Our ground firmness scale ranges from 1 to 5, with 1 being the softest and 5 being the hardest. The softer the ground, the shorter the roll distance on your shot.
Practice Area Map
On the right-hand side of the screen, a top-down view of the whole practice area is displayed. This map indicates the direction that the view is facing, with red circles indicating target positions and corresponding with the red circles around each target at a 10-foot radius.
The practice area map also plots the final positions of each previous shot, marked with a golf ball icon, including the 5 most recent shots that are also displayed as a tracer.
Changing Player
When playing with multiple players a button to switch the active player will be displayed in the bottom left of the screen, to the right of the Exit and Audio buttons. Changing player will change who the shots are tracked for, allowing each player to review their own shots individually.
To add a new player, once already playing Approach Shots, you'll need to return to the main menu, and press "Add Player" at the bottom of the screen. For more information on adding players and guests, please see our Adding Players Guide.
