Hole Descriptions
Hole 1 - Boca del Fuego (Par 5)
"Mouth of Fire" - 582m (Hexagon) / 406m (Square)
A fiery opener demanding a bold drive over a volcanic canyon. The fairway narrows considerably on the approach, with bunkers lining both sides. The raised, sloping green is well-guarded - if you can't guarantee reaching it in regulation, lay up and leave a clean short-iron approach rather than chasing distance. Club selection on the final shot is critical.
Hole 2 - El Aguacero (Par 3)
"The Downpour" - 159m (Hexagon) / 117m (Square)
A downhill par 3 played through a gap in the forest canopy. Aim slightly right to use the natural slope and feed the ball towards the pin. The green is firm and rain-slicked, so going long is a costly mistake - the dip behind the green offers no easy recovery. Take one less club than you think you need.
Hole 3 - La Ceiba (Par 5)
"The Ceiba Tree" - 457m (Hexagon) / 411m (Square)
A downhill dog-leg that curves around the iconic Ceiba tree, which acts as both a landmark and a line to avoid off the tee. A river crosses the fairway on the approach, so position matters more than distance on the second shot. The tiered green is unforgiving short - shots that come up lacking will feed away downhill, so commit fully on the final approach.
Hole 4 - Laderas del Jaguar (Par 4)
"Jaguar Slopes" - 334m (Hexagon) / 274m (Square)
A shorter par 4 that rewards course management over raw power. Hug the left side off the tee to stay clear of the trees and traps that crowd the right. The raised green is protected by dense forest and steep fall-offs on all sides - an accurate mid-iron approach is far more effective here than attempting to overpower the hole.
Hole 5 - Flor del Alba (Par 3)
"Flower of the Dawn" - 158m (Hexagon) / 134m (Square)
A picturesque but exacting par 3. The green is set in a sunken forest clearing, surrounded by bunkers on all sides and framed by tight tree lines. There is little margin for error - the hibiscus-shaped green demands a precise, committed tee shot. A short or wayward shot leaves an awkward bunker recovery with almost no green to work with.
Hole 6 - Mirador Verde (Par 4)
"Green Lookout" - 404m (Hexagon) / 364m (Square)
The tee shot is blind, through dense forest - pick your line, commit, and trust it. The reward is a dramatic reveal as the green comes into view, perched at the edge of a cliff far below. The approach is a significant drop shot and the green is guarded front and back, leaving little room to land safely. Club down and prioritise accuracy over distance.
Hole 7 - Costa Brava (Par 4)
"Rugged Coast" - 441m (Hexagon) / 375m (Square)
An exposed coastal dog-leg where wind can be a significant factor. The tee shot requires a brave line - too conservative and the angle to the green is compromised; too aggressive and the beach awaits. The raised green has run-offs on all sides, so a controlled approach with enough height to hold the surface is essential. Take your time reading the wind before committing.
Hole 8 - La Joya del Mar (Par 3)
"The Jewel of the Sea" - 126m (Hexagon) / 96m (Square)
The shortest hole on the course and arguably its most photogenic. The green is raised on a platform in a shimmering coastal lagoon, surrounded by jagged rock on all sides. Despite the short distance, accuracy is everything - there is no rough, no bail-out, and no recovery from a missed green here.
Hole 9 - La Cumbre (Par 5)
"The Summit" - 406m (Hexagon) / 342m (Square)
A fitting climax to the round. An opening carry over the sea sets the tone for a winding, uphill battle through lush mountain terrain. Each shot must be carefully placed to advance up the fairway - the course narrows and climbs as you go. The raised closing green is nestled in the mountain forest and demands a precise final approach. Manage your way up the hill methodically; brute force alone will not get you home.
