Closest to the Pin - Challenges

The Closest to the Pin Game Mode challenges you to land the ball as close to the pin as possible on tricky holes from our Virtual Golf courses. You'll have three chances to hit it as close as possible - the closest of which will be taken as your best score.

In Closest to the Pin, you can pick one of our 9 Virtual Golf courses to play on, using the Left/Right arrows to scroll through our available courses. Each course has three different options with varying difficulty and distances from the pin: Easy, Medium, and Hard - the distances for which vary with each Virtual Golf course, from 27 yards to over 205 yards.

In-game, a label will be shown above the target pin to highlight the target and indicate your distance away from the pin, as well as an arrow next to it showing the elevation change and the direction of it too. Swiping horizontally on the screen will allow you to change the direction you're aiming.

Wind Speed

The wind sock, on the left-hand side of the screen, shows the characteristics of the in-game wind with its speed/strength and the wind's direction, according to the direction you're facing. A strong wind from either side can push your ball around in the air and can require you to a hit a club with more distance, whereas a wind behind you may require a lighter touch or a lesser lofted club.

Change Player

When playing with multiple players each player will take turns during the Closest to the Pin session with their attempts, hitting one shot each before switching, in the same order as the player list from the Main Menu. Each player will get a score for the closest distance to the pin out of their three attempts - to win, you'll need to hit a shot that finishes closer to the target than any of your opponents - the closest shot wins!

To add a new player, once already playing Closest to the Pin, you'll need to return to the Main Menu screen, and press "Add Player" at the bottom of the screen. For more information on adding players and guests, see our Adding Players Guide.

Scores & Personal Bests

Your previous attempts will be listed in the top-left corner of the screen, under your name when its your turn to hit. Your all-time personal best for each target will also feature at the top of the screen during your turn. If your session has added players, you'll also see a list of all players' scores alongside their name in the top-right corner of the screen.

Leaderboard Entries

When you play Closest to the Pin as a registered user (not a guest player) your final distance is entered into our in-game global leaderboards and your leaderboard placement will be displayed in-game. Your scores and display name will be displayed publically on the leaderboard if you've accepted our GDPR terms.

After you've finished your Closest to the Pin session, you can see your leaderboard placement in-game, or review your placement at any point using Awesome Golf Insights, online, or the Awesome Golf Community app.

Note: A solid Internet it needed for your scores to upload to our global leaderboards.
