Banff Springs Golf Course is a celebrated 18-hole championship course set within Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada, on the grounds of the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel. Designed by Stanley Thompson and opened in 1928, it is widely regarded as one of the most scenic golf courses in the world, routing through a dramatic alpine landscape framed by the Canadian Rockies, the Bow River, and Sulphur Mountain. Thompson shaped the course to work with the natural terrain rather than against it, producing sweeping fairways, bold elevation changes, and greens that demand precision from every approach. It is consistently ranked among the finest courses in Canada.
Banff Springs is available to all users, including those on a free trial. To play, open Virtual Golf, select 18 Hole Courses, and choose Banff Springs from the list.

Hole Descriptions
Hole 1 - Peechee (Par 4)
376m (Hexagon) / 263m (Square)
A welcoming opener beneath towering peaks. Favour the left half of the fairway to hold position, then play steadily to the centre of a generous green.
Hole 2 - Rundle (Par 3)
157m (Hexagon) / 83m (Square)
A graceful downhill par 3 set against Mount Rundle. Trust your yardage, take enough club and aim for the centre to avoid hidden danger.
Hole 3 - Gibraltar (Par 5)
467m (Hexagon) / 358m (Square)
A bold drive down the left offers the clearest approach. The green is long and exacting, rewarding precision rather than power.
Hole 4 - Devil's Cauldron (Par 3)
175m (Hexagon) / 141m (Square)
One of the world's most iconic par 3s. An unforgettable shot over water to a perfectly framed green beneath sheer cliffs. Distance judgement is vital.
Hole 5 - Trough (Par 4)
386m (Hexagon) / 275m (Square)
A demanding test that sweeps downhill. Position your drive on the left side to hold the fairway, then accept that par here is hard-earned.
Hole 6 - Fairholme (Par 4)
342m (Hexagon) / 219m (Square)
A classic three-shot hole. Place your second shot carefully to avoid the bunkers, then enjoy a picturesque approach to a green tucked into the forest.
Hole 7 - Hoodoo (Par 5)
538m (Hexagon) / 386m (Square)
Temptation lurks on this short par 5. The daring may drive at the green, though wisdom lies in a controlled lay-up and precise wedge.
Hole 8 - Papoose (Par 3)
137m (Hexagon) / 76m (Square)
A rising fairway leads to a perched green. Keep right off the tee for the best angle, then take one more club into the approach.
Hole 9 - Jinx (Par 5)
457m (Hexagon) / 290m (Square)
The wind often rules here. Take extra club, trust the middle of the green and avoid the punishing trouble lurking left.
Hole 10 - Little Bow (Par 3)
199m (Hexagon) / 110m (Square)
A charming dogleg right. The left side of the fairway opens the best angle, leaving a short iron to a green that rewards accuracy.
Hole 11 - Magpie (Par 4)
381m (Hexagon) / 261m (Square)
A strong par 4 requiring courage. Drive left centre to open the view, then play carefully into a green protected by bunkers.
Hole 12 - Big Bow (Par 4)
403m (Hexagon) / 288m (Square)
An uphill par 4 where the challenge is all in the club selection. Better to miss slightly long than short, though the heart of the green is safest.
Hole 13 - Sulphur (Par 3)
206m (Hexagon) / 91m (Square)
Power players may chase glory, but strategy is rewarded. Clear the opening bunker, then decide: advance boldly or lay up before the stream protecting the green.
Hole 14 - Wampum (Par 4)
399m (Hexagon) / 274m (Square)
Drive confidently down the left for the best approach. The green has subtle slopes that demand touch, rewarding an approach kept beneath the hole.
Hole 15 - Spray (Par 4)
430m (Hexagon) / 253m (Square)
A brave tee shot followed by an uphill approach that demands trust. Aim for the middle and be content with par.
Hole 16 - Goat (Par 4)
372m (Hexagon) / 250m (Square)
From its elevated tee the panorama is breathtaking. Trust the yardage, choose plenty of club and relish one of the most dramatic shots on the course.
Hole 17 - Sarcee (Par 4)
341m (Hexagon) / 227m (Square)
Opportunity arrives late. Find the fairway and you may attack the green in two. A careful lay-up leaves a wedge and a chance for birdie.
Hole 18 - Windy (Par 5)
528m (Hexagon) / 391m (Square)
A majestic finale beneath Mount Rundle. Drive left for the best line, then add a club into a grand green that crowns an unforgettable round.
