The Garmin Approach R50 is a triscopic camera-based Launch Monitor system that captures club and ball data for indoor and outdoor use. It features a LCD touchscreen display and connectivity via Wi-Fi.

Unlike the Garmin Approach R10, you don't need the Garmin Golf app to connect to your Garmin Approach R50.

Wi-Fi Connection - iOS, Mac & PC

The Wi-Fi connection method details the method of connecting your Launch Monitor to your Wi-Fi network or Personal Network/Hotspot.

First, turn on the Garmin Approach R50 and connect it to your Wi-Fi Network or Personal Network/Hotspot. Once the Garmin R50 is connected to your Wi-Fi, it can be discovered by Awesome Golf Simulator as a Launch Monitor that is ready to be connected.

Now that the Approach R50 itself is connected to the Internet, your device must connect to the hotspot broadcast by the R50 as this is the only permitted method of connecting to the Approach R50.

On the Garmin R50's screen, scroll across twice on the main menu to the "Connect" menu and select Awesome Golf Simulator. The R50 will show a hotspot with a connection name and password.

From the device Awesome Golf Simulator is installed on, connect to the R50's Wi-Fi Hotspot using the name and password displayed on the R50's screen. Please ensure that the device you are using for Awesome Golf Simulator is only connected to the Approach R50's hotspot and not your Wi-Fi network. Any other connectivity will cause software or hardware issues.

Then, in Awesome Golf Simulator, select Garmin as your Launch Monitor type and select "Approach R50" as the device type. Awesome Golf Simulator will now look for your R50. Once found, select the Garmin Approach R50 to connect to it and enjoy!
