Garmin Express can be used to install the latest firmware to Garmin Approach R10 and Approach R50 Launch Monitors when they are connected to a computer with a data cable. After connecting your Launch Monitor to Garmin Express you can set up notifications for newly released firmware updates.

Garmin Approach R10

When you connect a Garmin Approach R10 to a computer using a USB data cable, the device will appear in Garmin Express. If there is a new R10 firmware update available for the device, you will be prompted to download and install it.

  1. Power-on your Garmin Approach R10 and connect it to a computer using a USB-C data cable.

  2. Open the the Garmin Express app.

    Select the device from the list - or select Add a Device to search for the R10, then select the device when it is found.

    If the Launch Monitor cannot be found, restart the R10 and re-connect it to the computer.

  3. When connected to your R10, Garmin Express will check for available updates and prompt you to install a new version if one is available.

    If an update is available, select Install to start the firmware update.

    Your R10 will flash purple while the firmware is being installed - once it stops, you’re good to go.

Alternatively, the Garmin Approach R10 can use the Garmin Golf app to automatically download and install the latest firmware updates and bug fixes while connected to both your Launch Monitor and the Internet.

Garmin Approach R50

When you connect a Garmin Approach R50 to a computer using a USB-C data cable, the device will appear in Garmin Express. If there is a new R50 firmware update available for the device, you will be prompted to download and install it.

  1. Power-on your Garmin Approach R50 and connect it to a computer using a USB-C data cable.

  2. Open the the Garmin Express app.

    Select the device from the list - or select Add a Device to search for the R50, then select the device when it is found.

    If the Launch Monitor cannot be found, restart the R50 and re-connect it to the computer.

  3. When connected to your R50, Garmin Express will check for available updates and prompt you to install a new version if one is available.

    If an update is available, select Install to start the firmware update.

    On-screen instructions will guide you through update process to finish installing the updates.

The Garmin Approach R50 will also automatically download the latest firmware updates and bug fixes while connected to a Wi-Fi network and the Internet.
