An Internet connection is required when playing Awesome Golf Simulator so that you can connect to our servers whilst playing and connected to your Launch Monitor. With a FlightScope Launch Monitor, a limited offline mode is available.

If you are experiencing issues with establishing and/or maintaining a connection to both The Internet and your Launch Monitor at the same time, the information in your Launch-Monitor-specific Awesome Golf Simulator Connection Guide is a good starting point.

Wi-Fi Direct Connections

A common issue experienced is when a Launch Monitor is connected using a Wi-Fi Direct connection method. In this case, as a user, your connection to the Launch Monitor is established by connecting to a Wi-Fi network broadcast by the Launch Monitor itself. These Wi-Fi "hotspot" connections often mean that the device you are using for Awesome Golf Simulator needs to support two Wi-Fi/Network connections at once.

When using an iPhone or iPad (cellular) this Internet connectivity can be provided by the cellular (4G/5G) connection. This connectivity may also be shared to other devices using a Personal Hotspot Wi-Fi Network, or Bluetooth Tethering.

If your device has an Ethernet (RJ45) port, or supports an ethernet adapter, you may be able to use this wired connectivity for establishing an Internet connection while you play.

Your device may also allow a secondary connection by adding a USB Wi-Fi adapter, such as the TP-Link T3U Nano USB Wi-Fi Adapter, allowing you to connect to both a Wi-Fi Launch Monitor and Wi-Fi Network at the same time. It may also be possible to use a secondary Internet connection using Bluetooth from another device with an Internet connection.

Limited Wi-Fi Network Reach

In situations where Wi-Fi connectivity doesn't reach to wherever you're playing, you may be able to use an Ethernet cable to connect your device to the Internet - your device may need an additional ethernet adapter to add this support.

Alternatively, the reach of your Wi-Fi network connectivity can be extended with a Wi-Fi access point, such as a TP-Link RE705X - this can be used to extend your existing Wi-Fi network coverage into dead zones, providing a stronger, more reliable connection.
