The West Course at Wentworth Club is a celebrated 18-hole parkland course located in Virginia Water, Surrey, England. Designed by Harry Colt and opened in 1926, it is one of the most iconic courses in British golf - affectionately known as "the Burma Road" for its demanding length and the gruelling challenge it presents even to the finest players. Routed through mature woodland with sweeping fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and subtly contoured greens, the West Course rewards patience and precision in equal measure. It is the long-standing home of the BMW PGA Championship, the flagship event of the DP World Tour, and has hosted the World Match Play Championship across several decades.

Wentworth West is available to all users, including those on a free trial. To play, open Virtual Golf, select 18 Hole Courses, and choose Wentworth West from the list.

Hole Descriptions

Hole 1 (Par 4)

426m (Hexagon) / 326m (Square)

This opening tee shot is all about club selection with a decision to either carry the fairway bunker and trickle down a narrow downhill fairway or lay up short for a more level approach across the valley. The green is also protected by four troublesome bunkers.

Hole 2 (Par 3)

138m (Hexagon) / 106m (Square)

This classic Surrey heathland par 3 has a large elevated green with three bunkers gathering the shots that fall short on this significant left-to-right slope.

Hole 3 (Par 4)

424m (Hexagon) / 347m (Square)

A difficult tee shot here with fairway bunkers on the left and right. The second shot is uphill to a back-to-front sloping green with deep greenside bunkers on either side.

Hole 4 (Par 5)

504m (Hexagon) / 387m (Square)

The first real birdie chance on this course opens with a claustrophobic tee shot favouring a right-to-left ball flight. If you make it round the corner, you can attack the tight green but be aware of the greenside bunkers.

Hole 5 (Par 3)

183m (Hexagon) / 128m (Square)

This iconic uphill par 3 Harry Colt design strategically hides the bottom of the pin. The guarding bunkers protect a sloping green that moves away from you.

Hole 6 (Par 4)

360m (Hexagon) / 296m (Square)

Once again, a long and demanding tee shot with fairway bunkers either side of the fairway. The second shot is an uphill test to a green that slopes away from you.

Hole 7 (Par 4)

366m (Hexagon) / 305m (Square)

A beautiful and difficult tee shot with a hidden downhill landing area to set up for another demanding uphill approach. It's difficult enough to get on this green from the fairway let alone the rough.

Hole 8 (Par 4)

358m (Hexagon) / 266m (Square)

A lay-up on the right side is the play off the tee. The penalty area around the green has increased which makes the bailout on the right more difficult. This is a green you need to stand up and take on.

Hole 9 (Par 4)

412m (Hexagon) / 273m (Square)

Another beautiful tee shot with the fairway sloping left to right and fairway bunkers either side. A greenside bunker guards the left side with a slope bringing everything down to a chipping area below the hole on the right.

Hole 10 (Par 3)

175m (Hexagon) / 142m (Square)

By no means an easy par 3, it's one of the short holes on the golf course but it becomes very difficult without a favourable left-to-right ball flight through the corridor of trees.

Hole 11 (Par 4)

385m (Hexagon) / 291m (Square)

A beautiful view from the elevated tee box hitting downhill into a dogleg left par 4. The uphill second shot will be tricky with no sight of the bottom of the pin.

Hole 12 (Par 5)

471m (Hexagon) / 359m (Square)

This classic par 5 needs a high tee shot over the top of the trees to the right side of the fairway. From there you can take on the green with a right-to-left shot over the penalty area.

Hole 13 (Par 4)

422m (Hexagon) / 263m (Square)

One of the most difficult tee shots on this course with fairway bunkers either side and a fairway sloping left-to-right. The trees guard the green as the fairway curves around to the left up to an elevated green.

Hole 14 (Par 3)

155m (Hexagon) / 109m (Square)

The final par 3 has a significantly uphill tee shot to a two-tier green with a small safety shelf on the right-hand side.

Hole 15 (Par 4)

419m (Hexagon) / 325m (Square)

The start of this hole plays through a wind tunnel of trees over the heather with a stream running down the right side of the hole meaning the left half of the fairway is much safer. The green has an extreme slope from left to right.

Hole 16 (Par 4)

347m (Hexagon) / 293m (Square)

No need for the big clubs on this short par 4 with fairway bunkers down the right side as the hole turns to the left up the hill. Once you're in position, it's a great place to attack the flag.

Hole 17 (Par 5)

547m (Hexagon) / 428m (Square)

The most uncomfortable tee shot on the golf course. An uphill fairway sloping left-to-right with trees and out of bounds on the left. The second shot favours a right-to-left ball flight up the hill with the last 75 yards of this hole downhill towards the green.

Hole 18 (Par 5)

467m (Hexagon) / 383m (Square)

The final hole runs the opposite way to the previous hole with two deep fairway bunkers down the left-hand side. The green is reachable in two if you can carry the water in front of the green.
