The Club Distances range Game Mode is used to work out how far each of your clubs goes and help you map out any gaps in your distances - and also see how accurate each club is. It's a good idea to test out all of your clubs every few months to ensure that what you expect on the course is the same as what you've measured.

For each club, you can choose to hit between 3 and 50 shots - selecting up to 13 different clubs for use at one time, from a: Driver, 2 Wood (2W) to 9 Wood (9W), 1 Iron (1I) to Lob Wedge (LW). All of the irons and wedges are also available as hybrids too. Clubs will be selected and announced in descending order of length: Woods, followed by Irons, and then Wedges.

To get consistent results, we suggest selecting all the clubs in your golf bag and hitting at least 5 shots per club - If you have 14 clubs in your bag, you will have selected 13 clubs (as we don't measure the putter) and this will result in a session of 65 shots.

You should find a balance between the number of shots and the number of clubs to match your energy levels for the session. If you hit too many shots earlier on, it can affect your performance with clubs later on in the session.

Graphs & Data Points

When using the Club Distances Game Mode, the metrics for your previous shot will be displayed at the bottom of the screen throughout, showing your Club Speed, Ball Speed, Carry Distance, Total Distance, Launch Angle, Backspin, Side Spin, Club Path, and Horizontal Launch Angle.

Additionally, an Intermediate Analysis screen will display after each shot to show you the averages so far for the specific club:

  • Average Distance is the average of the distances you hit each shot for the club
  • Distance Spread is a measure of the shortest to longest dispersion of your shots with the club
  • Lateral Spread is a measure of the shortest to longest dispersion of your shots with the club.

Also displayed is a score based on how consistent your shots were in distance and lateral spread. Shots that are closer together will have a better score. Your Personal Best for each club hit will be saved.

After you've finished your Club Distances session, or at any time, you can use see your Club Distances and Personal Bests without needing to connect to your Launch Monitor using Awesome Golf Insights, online, or the Awesome Golf Community app. Your Club Distances can also be found in your Player Stats by selecting on your name at the bottom of the screen on the Main Menu, whilst connected to your Launch Monitor.

Information on the meaning and availability of different data points and metrics can be found in Awesome Golf Metrics - our web page explainer for each of the different metrics, ideal values, and Launch Monitor model support for each.

Delete Shots

After hitting a shot you will have the opportunity to delete id and hit the shot again - this can be used to improve your distances' accuracy if you're not happy with the result. Selecting the Re-Take Shot option in the post-shot Intermediate Analysis will allow you to take the shot again, also known as a mulligan, as many times as you'd like.

Ground Firmness

The simulated ground firmness can be adjusted from the Club Selection screen, after selecting the Club Distances Game Mode from the Main Menu. Ground firmness can affect the roll distance of your shots and can be good practice to adjust this to match the current climate or weather of your local environment.

Our ground firmness scale ranges from 1 to 5, with 1 being the softest and 5 being the hardest. The softer the ground, the shorter the roll distance on your shot.

Change Player

When playing with multiple players each player will take turns during the Club Distances session, in the same order as the player list from the Main Menu. Each player will have their shots tracked, allowing each player to track and review their own shots individually. Registered players can also allow each player to review their stats and performance later using Awesome Golf Insights, online, or the Awesome Golf Community app.

To add a new player, once already playing Club Distances, you'll need to return to the Main Menu or club selection screen, and press Add Player at the bottom of the screen. For more information on adding players and guests, see our Adding Players Guide.
